The Halifax Long March was established with the sole purpose of raising funds for people in third world countries. All money raised by the event (after paying our running costs), is given to the charity 'Christian Aid', in order to help finance the efforts they make towards easing the suffering of the poor and under privileged.

To date the Halifax Long March has raised over £250000, much of it by young people.

The stories shown below are typical of the work carried out by Christian Aid, however, these are just two examples.

The first story is about how the Christian Aid sister project 'Caja Lucia' is using circus skills to help young people improve their lives. The second is related to the video on the right, and highlights the importance of things we all take for granted, such as food and electricity.

You can find further details of the work carried out by Christian Aid at there website, www.christianaid.org.uk.

Sadly, the need for help is as great as ever. We constantly need walkers, volunteers and sponsors to help in the fight against poverty and famine.

Flora and others most vulnerable to food shortages are part of a scheme that uses a solar pump to bring water to crops and enables them to grow at least twice as much food, including a variety of fruit and vegetables.
